Created in 2002 and based in the Rhône-Alpes Region, Rendez-vous is an international platform dedicated to young creative artists. Curated by the Musée d’art contemporain de Lyon, the Ecole nationale des beaux-arts de Lyon and the Institut d’art contemporain, Villeurbanne / Rhône-Alpes, it is being further built up through collaboration from international partners.
This year, Rendez-vous 09 takes place at the Institut d’art contemporain à Villeurbanne and is a focus of the Xth Biennale de Lyon. The exhibition includes twenty artists of ten different nationalities and enables them to produce novel projects in painting, sculpture, video, installation, etc. It confirms the commitment of the partners of the previous edition (Moscow, Beijing, Buenos Aires) while opening up a broader international base by developing notably including the biennials with which Lyon is closely involved: the Biennials of Taipei, Istanbul, Moscow, Sante Fe, Liverpool, Mercosul, Yokohama Triennale…, not forgetting Bandjoun and Vilnius.
To reach a wider audience for this event, a website and a publication are realised for Rendez-vous 09.
